This program (Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurial Principles) offers a sequence of courses that provide coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in Marketing, Sales and Service career cluster.
This course blends theory and practice to facilitate immediate implementation and impact. Students will learn to develop strategic marketing with sales and customer plans.
This course is designed to provide students with an in-depth study of marketing in a free enterprise society and includes advertising, promotion, marketing research and more.
This course includes applied skills related to marketing functions, school store operations, and employment skills required for success in marketing.
HONORS CREDIT This course provides students with the skills needed to realistically evaluate their potential as business owners and develop fundamental knowledge and skills to operate a business.
Principles of Entrepreneurship
1 credit (coming Fall 2020)
This course provides instruction in the basic principles of entrepreneurship: the role of the entrepreneur, entrepreneurship as a career, ethics in business, and the principles of marketing, financing, and managing a business.
Marketing Directed Studies
1 or more credit
This course provides students with learning opportunities in a prescribed program of study with the Marketing, Sales and Service cluster that will enhance opportunities for employment in the career field chosen by the student.
Rise to the Challenge
Setting high standards for all marketing students to succeed is what we are striving for. When people see Booker T. Washington High marketing students they expect professionalism., high character and confidence. Students should keep this in mind as they create a great image for their school, chapter, and self.
Students will be expected to present as “professionally” and appropriately on the job and/or at each DECA and MEA sanctioned event including interviews, guest speakers in the classroom, competitions, leadership conferences, and award assemblies to name a few. To practice this art of projecting a great image, students are required to follow specific guidelines for dressing professionally (Dress for Success) on designated Wednesday in each quarter.
